“Beklenmeyen T_OBJECT_OPERATOR” hata PHP

Question

içinde aşağıdaki hatayı alıyorum:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in.. on line 52. 

Hat 52 if ($result = mysqli->query... olduğunu. Çizgiyi açıklarsam, $mysqli->query("INSERT INTO...'da aynı hata oluşur.

Bu neden hata veriyor?

$inserted = false; 
while(!$inserted) { 
    $unique_code = generateCode(); 
    echo $unique_code;
